Stearyl Alcohol

Stearyl Alcohol is an organic compound that is insoluble in water. Stearyl alcohol is derived from stearic acid and is classified as a fatty alcohol, used to make emulsion thicker, more creamy and stable.  As an emollient, topically applied stearyl alcohol has the ability to soften and soothe the skin. It improves the texture of the overall product, making it more attractive.

Used in: hair shampoos and conditioners, moisturizers, make-ups, cleansers, perfumes, stick deodorants.
